This was a reread, but this time I read the physical book. That was on purpose, last year I listened to it on a high speed because I’d chosen it as my pick for book club and wanted to make sure it was suitiable. Then I wanted to reread it in the physical format to prepare for hosting book club. I will say, I got so much more out of it this time! Maybe I was distracted when I listened last time or maybe this is just one of the books that are better for me to read instead of listen to. The book is about Molly the maid. There are strong implications that she is autistic, although it never explicitly states that. She just lost her gran and has no other family that she knows of. She’s a maid in an upscale hotel and is trying to make ends meet. She’s very particular about her work and cleanliness and doesn’t understand nuances of human interactions, expresssions, or emotions. There is a death at the hotel and Molly, being Molly, could be very helpful to the case as she is detail-oriented. Unfortunately, after a few misteps and some misunderstandings, she becomes the key suspect in murder. She must find it in herself to ask for help and rely on others. However, Molly the maid has some suprising little secrets of her own.
