I put this on my list after finishing my first book from Bryson, In A Sunburned Country. Bryson weaves a colorful tapestry of subtle sarcasm and dry wit that makes the reader think twice on whether the last paragraph was self-deprecating or actually a veiled insult at British culture. Either way it’s pure gold. Being a bit of an anglophile, a humorous account of an American’s time in England was exactly what I wanted. I would say it definitely delivered, however, be warned, there were a few dated remarks that were mildly offensive. Probably “okay” in the nineties but not today.
