I was going to start by saying I’ve read all of Johann Hari’s books but then I had to double check to make sure that’s true and turns out I missed one of his earlier books (about the monarchy) so just threw that on the ever-growing TBR list. Hari has a knack for diving deep into complex topics while keeping them personal and accessible, which makes his books both interesting and relatable. In “Magic Pill,” he explores the effects and implications of GLP1 through the lens of his own experience using Ozempic. What I appreciate about this book is its honesty; Hari’s conclusions are somewhat inconclusive, which feels right since much about the topic is still up in the air. I learned a great deal about health and our food system, and I think Hari does an excellent job, as always, in navigating these intricate discussions. This book isn’t just informative—it makes you think critically about the ongoing conversations in healthcare and weightloss.
