At first glance, this is a sci-fi thriller—but at its core, it’s really a love story. The multiverse concept has been explored a lot, but I don’t think it’s overdone, especially when it’s approached as creatively as it is here. Dark Matter asks a compelling question: what if you could live multiple versions of your best life?
I often think about the “what ifs” in my own life, so the idea that another version of me might be out there, living out a different path, really resonated. The pacing kept me hooked, and I felt like Crouch actually stuck the landing with the ending—which is crucial in a book like this.
Now I’m off to watch the mini-series.
