This book had me hooked from the very beginning. Don’t let the “historical fiction” label scare you off—it’s not usually my genre either, but I still flew through this one.
The story follows a young journalist who’s invited to interview the legendary (and reclusive) actress Evelyn Hugo, who’s ready to finally tell the truth about her glamorous, scandal-filled life—including her seven marriages. As the story unfolds, you’re piecing together why Evelyn chose this writer, who her great love really was, and what secrets she’s been keeping.
It’s layered, compelling, and full of twists. I totally see why this one gets recommended so often—I loved it.
