Author

Yalom is a well-known existential psychotherapist and author, and this book is his exploration of death anxiety and how it quietly shows up in our lives. He argues that by facing our fear of death directly, we can actually live more freely and fully. It’s not a light read, but it’s deeply human and surprisingly hopeful. He weaves together therapy stories, reflections on aging, and bits of philosophy in a way that feels grounding and meaningful. I read it from a therapist’s perspective (the last section is written specifically for clinicians), but I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone. Mortality is something we all face, and this book offers a thoughtful and compassionate look at what that means.
