This was so fun! A very quick read and yet somehow still paved the way for hours of conversation for our book club about the nature of humanity and the line between AI to self-aware. It’s about a murderbot that over-rides its governor control system and so its still doing its job, but of its own volition. I very much want to gender our murderbot friend here as male, but technically we don’t actually know the gender and the author did a good job of leaving it vague. Regardless, murerbot is very endearing, thoughtul, and genuine. I found myself rooting for him (IT!) from the beginning.
