I love stand-up comedy, like, truly love it. I’ve seen tons of comics live (big names and small) and watched more specials than I can count. I saw Nate Bargatze live about a year ago and can honestly say I don’t think I’ve ever laughed that hard, for that long, in my life. I had a strain headache afterward from laughing so much, it was amazing.
The book? It was cute. I didn’t laugh out loud much (if at all), but it was still a fun listen and gave me a better sense of who Nate is off-stage. Don’t expect the same punchy, laugh-a-minute vibe of his stand-up, but if you’re a Nate fan and want something light and entertaining to listen to while folding laundry or driving around, it’s worth it.
Also, I can’t imagine reading the print version, his delivery is half the humor. Having him in my ears for eight hours felt like hanging out with a very funny friend.
