Ok hear me out. This is a classic example of judging a book by its cover. I would’ve never picked this book up in a million years simply based on the cover. A friend highly recommended it, and trusting her plus some curiosity as to why on earth she would recommend this book, I bought it on Audible and went for it. It’s the apocalypse meets The Hunger Games meets Dungeons and Dragons meets some sci-fi (I don’t know enough sci-fi to give an example). Which, even with my own description I still would be wholly uninterested. You know what got me though? The production value of the audio book. It was so entertaining and hilarious. I loved it. Downside? Or upside, depending on your circumstance, it’s the first of a series so now I’m stuck trying to decide if I continue with the series and put my entire TBR list on hold or live not knowing what happens to Carl and his cat.
