I chose this one because I read “Nothing To Envy” years back by the same author and it has always stuck with me. Tibet is a bit of a question mark in my head so I was excited to learn more about it. It was really good and gives a lot of background and context to Tibet and its history. My complaint is that I often got confused with the timeline and if the characters had a through-line, if they were related, or if it’s just who she was able to get information and history on. It was written chronologically but I still had a hard time following what was going on because I couldn’t tell if she was weaving the individual stories together or not. Still a good read, and by that I mean tragic and heartbreaking. I learned a lot about Tibet and its tangled history with China.
