I’ve listened to a few of Lisa Marie Presley’s albums but didn’t know much about her beyond that. This memoir turned out to be a really engaging read. I usually prefer listening to memoirs because the authors often narrate them themselves, and it feels more personal. This time was different because Lisa Marie passed away before the book was published. Her daughter, Riley, stepped in to finish it and did some of the readings. They even included some audio clips of Lisa Marie herself, along with Julia Roberts reading most of Lisa Marie’s sections. The narration was well done, but it sometimes got confusing when Riley was reading—hard to tell if she was speaking as herself or for her mom. The overlapping of three generations sometimes mixed things up for me too. Despite these little hitches, it was a fascinating look at a life filled with self-reflection. I really enjoyed it.
