This was a book club read, one I probably wouldn’t have picked up on my own. I thought the book was excellent, well-written and a lovely story of resilience, grit, and heartbreak. I gave it a lower score than it probably deserves just because subjectively the setting and subject are not my favorite. It’s set in Colorado (not bad) but it feels… dusty. There’s an angry emotionally stunted sexist father and I just really don’t like that trope.
