Don’t be deterred by the lower score I gave this one. I think it did exactly what it set out to do and was pretty cute. It felt very “Emily Henry” to me, in a good way. I just often forget that romance is not my favorite genre. The set up was fun in this one (I’m not versed enough in romance to be able to name the trope) but it reminded me of what it would look like if the cast of Friends (TV show) got together every year after the end of the finale and tried to maintain their friendship. And let’s say Ross and Rachel broke up but didn’t want anyone else to know yet and then they get forced to pretend that they’re still a couple while on the weeklong vacation with the rest of the friends. I feel like that sums it up.
