Veronica is a well off elderly curmudgeon in her 80’s that doesn’t want anything to do with anyone else. She comes upon her old diary from her teenage years and it unlocks a part of her that she’d kept hidden away. This launched her into searching for possible ancestors with the help of her caretaker. She started watching nature documentaries on penguins and the next thing we know, Veronica is on a plane to visit the penguins in Antarctica. Will the chilly penguins of the south be able to melt this old woman’s frozen heart? This was a charming read that reminded me a lot of The Brilliant Life of Eudora Honeysett.
