When I get asked what my favorite genre of book is I usually say I’ll read anything, which is true. I’m starting to realize that tend to really gravitate toward murder mysteries… so I’ll just lean into that realization and go with it. I read them for enjoyment, not to play sleuth myself. This recent read had a particularly intriguing setup: the victim had been preparing for her own murder ever since a fortune teller predicted her death as a teenager. She became obsessed, dedicating all her free time and a detailed murder board to solving her future murder. Ironically, after she actually dies, her heir must solve the murder to inherit her fortune. It was a fun twist on the typical murder mystery plot, and I enjoyed it.
