I read this one as my choice for a “banned book” from my library challenge. I really loved it. YA isn’t my genre of choice, but I do tend to enjoy John Green. I watched an interview before reading where he talked about the complaints from parents about the sexual encounter and how it was taken out of context from the book and the point he was trying to make. I think his point was to juxtapose a meaningless encounter to a kiss with someone that the main character cared a lot for and how they had a completely different feel and impact. The story is tragic so if you’re here for a happy ending, look elsewhere (pun not intended).
