Review for Martita, I Remember You by Sandra Cisneros
A beautiful epistolary novella following three women who met in Paris. Years later, one of the women uncovers an old letter and reflects back on her time as an immigrant and the friendships she shared with the other women.
This is a quiet book about memory, friendship, and the versions of ourselves we leave behind. Cisneros does such a good job capturing how intense female friendships can be, especially when you’re young and far from home. It’s very short and feels more like a shared memory than a traditional plot.
