“Odd Thomas” marked my first dive into Dean Koontz’s expansive bibliography, a name I’ve often seen on bestseller lists and airport bookshops. The novel introduces Odd Thomas, a clairvoyant short-order cook with a penchant for battling evil using his supernatural abilities. I was surprised by how deep the story delved into the supernatural realm, are all of Koontz’s books supernatural? I have no idea. Koontz’s writing is sharp, and he crafts Odd as an incredibly endearing character. The ending caught me off guard, which is all I can say about it without spoilers. While “Odd Thomas” is the first in a series, I think I’m good with stopping here, for now.
