Four words to describe this book: frustrating, cringey, disconcerting, and sobering.
If you caught one of the author’s interviews during the book launch, you probably already got the gist. That said, it’s well written and detailed enough that, while parts feel hard to believe, they also feel completely believable—which is part of what makes it so unsettling.
It’s a sobering look at human nature and how easily our judgment can get clouded. We overlook red flags, follow the crowd, and rationalize what we want to believe. Hopefully, stories like this help us reflect and learn from those patterns.
