As an older millenial that grew up through the nineties, but was not grown up in the nineties, I appreciated this walk through the decade as a whole. Klosterman analyzes (perhaps over-analyzes) the biggest events, pop culture, news stories, and climate of the nineties and how it informed the proceeding decades all through the lens of Gen X. It was helpful for me to look back at all the things that were going on around me as a kid but with adult glasses. Klosterman loves digging down into the nitty-gritty of, well, everything, while adding his own subjective take, which did get tiring after awhile. It’s a nostalgic read for anyone that’s “been there”.
