Number seven in the Strike series. This series is easily in my top three. I think Galbraith’s storytelling is masterful and his (her? not sure which pronouns to use here) character development is unmatched. I enjoy the mysteries and their intricate details, but more than anything I love the two main characters, Strike and Robin, so much. I essentially just want to spend time with them (in the form of reading) which works out because these books are not for the faint of heart. The Running Grave clocked in here at a whopping 960 pages. And I loved every bit of it. I was trying to decide if I’m offering a perfect score of 10 here just because I love the series, is that *really* what this book deserves? Verdict: yeah, I’m sticking with it. This book is centered around a cult that Robin infiltrates undercover for four months with the goal to get their client’s son out of the cult. While working on the case, clues begin to run a lot deeper to reveal a dark plot bigger than the two detectives thought possible when they took on the case. Come for the mystery, stay for the relationship between Strike and Robin.
