This is a long book. You should know that out of the gate. I do think it was worth the read though. The book follows 5 characters and a handful of timelines where we get a deep dive into the main characters to get a better understanding of their backgrounds and why they are making the choices they are making. The Shell Seekers is a painting that one of the main characters has in her possession that was painted by her late father. The painting is now worth a small fortune and her 3 children have some very specific ideas on what she should do with the painting/cash. My favorite part of this book is the character development that Pilcher worked up. I loved hearing the backstories that added so much color to what was going on in the present. I thought it was a beautifully written story and can see myself returning to it again (even despite the length!).
