I had to choose a book set in Idaho for my reading challenge which is why I chose this one. It was rough, the language is rough (think early 1900’s frontier language), and it’s basically one tragic event after another from start to finish. I ended up really loving it though. The writing was profound and I would just sit with some one the phrases and let them roll around in my head. It was runner up for the Pulitzer Prize in 2012- which I didn’t know until I finished and I was shocked to found out how recent the book was written.
